F iregläss is an art and design studio specializing in unique glassware. Combining both traditional and contemporary techniques, each piece is hand-made by applying a design of colored ground glass between two layers of clear glass. After being signed and dated, the assembled piece is laid over a mold, placed in a kiln, then fired to 1500 degrees. Many hours at this high temperature cause the layers of glass to fuse, assuming the shape of the mold and locking in the colors. Following a lengthy cooling-off period the glass is removed from the mold resulting in a colorful, yet functional piece of art glass.
